Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities by
Compassion, Comfort and Care

Compassion, Comfort & Care services individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) through the NOW (New Options Waiver) and COPM (Comprehensive Supports Waiver) programs. We are CARF-accredited and uphold the standards of the Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD).

We enhance the lives of individuals served and assist in them achieving their hopes, dreams, and desires. We offer the following services:  

Community Living Support (CLS)- Community Living Support (CLS)

“Services are individualized supports intended to assist the person with the achievement, preservation, or improvement in skills. The services are offered to individuals who live in their own or family home. Personal care/assistance may be a component part of CLS services but may not comprise the entirety of the services. The amount of personal care/assistance is specific to the needs of the Individual, as determined by the Supports Intensity Scale, the Health Risk Screening Tool, and other person-centered assessments. The service needs may be addressed in one or more of the following areas: Activities of daily living, personal grooming and health care, interpersonal relationships, mobility, home management, and use of leisure time.” (Division of Developmental Disabilities DBHDD Fact Sheet)

CLS services include:

  • Social, leisure, and adaptive skill development that assists the individual in continuing home living
  • Personal care, protective oversight, and supervision as a component part but not as the entirety of the services
  • Training in activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, toileting, transfers, hygiene, light housework, laundry, meal preparation, grocery shopping, using the telephone, medication, and money management
  • Medically related services, such as basic first aid, arranging, accompanying, providing individual transportation to medical appointments, and reminders and/or assistance with self-administration of medication
  • Implementation of a behavioral support plan to reduce inappropriate behaviors and to acquire new skills and behaviors.
  • Transportation to grocery or personal shopping, banking, and other community activities supporting continued home living.
  • CLS RN and LPN services, which are defined as only routine nursing services that are integral to meeting the daily needs of the person in his/her own or family home

Community Access

These services are designed to assist the participant in acquiring, retaining, or improving self-help, socialization, and adaptive skills required for active participation and independent functioning outside the participant’s home or family home.

  • Community Access Group (CAG) is provided in a group setting up to 10 individuals. This service can take place in a day program atmosphere or in the participant’s community.
  • Community Access Individual (CAI) is provided as a one-on-one service within the participant’s community.

(RN) Registered Nursing Services and (LPN) Licensed Practical Nursing Service

Nursing services include but are not limited to:

  • Skilled nursing assessments to include vital signs and head to toe assessments at set intervals.
  • Collaboration with Primary care physician or other attending physicians if any issues arise that need further medical evaluation.
  • Medication management and education
  • Educational coaching with families and individuals served. 
  • Additional nursing skills as indicated by needs of individuals in which we serve.

All staff are trained and given specific instructions for each individual to ensure that the staff member knows how to competently care for the individual prior to the assignment. No two individuals will be exactly alike.
